- Main bearings are the heart of all engine bearings. They provide the oil control to the rod bearings through the crankshaft. When selecting half, full, or three quarter oil groove main bearings for your application look at the features they provide.
- Half groove main bearings where the upper bearing is grooved but the lower surface is not. The half groove offers increased main bearing surface for higher fatigue resistance. Standard style thrust bearing is supplied in this set. Most OEM engine main bearings use this style.
- Speed-Pro's New 3/4 Groove Main Bearing is designed to provide more bearing surface on the load portion of the main bearing, while permitting improved oil flow to the rod bearing. The thrust bearing in the Speed-Pro competition main set incorporate our patented "contoured flange" which greatly increases thrust load capacity. These unique bearings use a series of formed "ramp and flat" hydrodynamic profiles on the flange surface. This contour channels oil to the surface of the flange surface. Applications using high clutch loads and frequent "on and off" throttle transitions will benefit is this style bearing.
- H-14 Super Duty Alloy is an unique high performance H-14 lining material designed for Speed-Pro's exclusive competition bearings, bonded to a high strength AK1020 steel backing for unparalleled bearing durability in high load racing engines. Tri-Metal bearings feature a steel base coated with a sintered layer of copper-lead alloy, followed by layers of electro-plated nickel and Babbitt to produce the ultimate bearing. Chamfered for large radius crankshafts. This material will perform any application from high performance street to all out racing applications.
